ShoppingThe wardrobe wish list that starts with a repair
By Andrea Hills
A pause for fit, condition and whether you will actually wear it.

First: can you see the condition clearly? Look for useful photos of seams, closures and areas that receive wear. If something is unclear, ask for more detail before committing.
Second: do the measurements work for you? Compare them with a similar garment you already wear comfortably, rather than relying only on the size label.
Third: what would need attention? A missing button and a damaged lining are different projects. If a repair matters to the purchase, ask a professional about feasibility and cost first.
Fourth: what are the seller’s return terms? Read them before buying, especially when fit is uncertain. Fifth: where does this piece fit in your actual week? A low price is not a reason on its own. The best find is one you are pleased to bring into regular use.
